Ephesians

We encounter the loving nature of God in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. Not the unapproachable holy and fearsome nature of God on Mount Sinai, but the God of all providence who cares for our souls. God has made good and wonderful plans for our lives since before the world’s creation. Plans for us to be holy and blameless in his sight, good works for us to do, and plans to be with him through eternity. God loves us so much that he sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins so that we might become righteous through Christ’s righteousness and be called God’s children. God gives us faith to believe in Christ as our Savior and to believe in his promises of redemption, salvation, adoption, spiritual rebirth, and eternal inheritance. God gives his Spirit for our spiritual rebirth and guides us in our lives so that we would know God and live in peace with one another.

The letter of Ephesians is like two letters in one. The first half focuses on foundational church doctrines showing the loving nature of God. The second half discusses practical applications of living as a Christian.
