Philippians
Philippians is Paul’s book of joy and thanks to his beloved friends who supported his ministry since they first came to faith. Paul wrote the letter from prison and encouraged his friends in their unity, walk with Christ, and exalted the lordship of Christ. He envisioned them as shining like stars, holding out the word of life to a world without hope. Our Lord entrusts us with the same message of God’s love and salvation through Jesus Christ to the world today.
Philippians includes some of the most encouraging themes in scripture:
God will guard us and complete his work in us.
Suffering and trials can have great purpose, and bring us into unity with Christ.
Our joy is not based on circumstances but we can rejoice in the Lord in all circumstances with the expectation that God works all things for our good.
Heaven is our home, and God has given us a great calling and purpose in our life, so we should press on toward the goal!
We should be healthy in our thoughts, focusing on pure, excellent, and praiseworthy things.
Most importantly, Paul describes life in Christ with a laser-like focus.
